John!!!!

What an amazing day. We left at 9:30 this morning and went to the Registration office. We were there with all 5 CCAI families and 5 families from other agencies. One by one the children arrived and were handed to their parents. John was the second to last that came, so I went through so many emotions before he got there. Thankfully I felt calm and happy, and it was a really amazing Gotcha Day! We saw him in the parking lot and watched him walk in with his nanny. He was extremely calm and seemed to recognize both Rick and I. He came right to us, although he did have a hard time looking at us in the eyes for a little while.

He is such a sweet little guy. He has only had one hard moment all day and that is when the nanny came to say good-bye. He hugged her for awhile and cried when she left. It only lasted 1-2 minutes. We have shown him her picture many times, and they gave us this amazing photo album of John from birth on. He really enjoys looking at that and the book of our family.

It seems like he has a hollow leg because this kid does not stop eating. He LOVES fish crackers, and always wants something in his hand and shoes on his feet. We basically hung out in the hotel room all day, took him swimming and out for dinner. FYI the cutie has no idea how to use chop sticks. Also we ordered some suspicious meat and were worried it was some sort of rodent. We were trying to ask the waitress what it was using pantamime for chicken and I asked if it was a horse - the only word I could remember at the moment. Thankfully it was not a rodent - only bull frog. It has made us laugh a lot.

John has already taught us many words, and we are pretty sure he is going to love our dog Aspen. At least he loves pointing out dogs on the street and in the books. He has been terrified of the toilet, which has proven to be a bit of a problem. Finally tonight we had some success in that department, and we were both there to celebrate it.  John seems equally attached to both Rick and I. We adore him, he is sweet, loves to feed us, and has a super cute laugh. It was a happy day, and it feels right to have John finally. Here are pictures to enjoy.
