Pictures from Yesterday

It is 3 am and I cannot sleep. Rick and I are both awake. I assumed we would be adjusted at this point, but we are definitely not. I hope we are able to function with John and not zonked out while he is running around the hotel room. We just don't feel tired at all. Yay jet lag!

So yesterday we learned that Beijing is ruffly around 200 miles by 200 miles. That is enormous! We drove at least 1 1/2 hours, and we never left the city - and it was not because of traffic. Also the Great Wall is 5,000 miles long. Of course it is serpentine, twisting all over, but that is how far it took us to travel from Seattle to Beijing. The Chinese know how to do big really well.

The local chinese people were so sweet while we were climbing the wall. Everyone was cheering us on, even going as far as to call us heroes. I have been impressed with how kind the chinese are - at least to this point. 

We have really loved the architecture in Beijing. Almost everywhere we look there is another building, either ancient or modern that is fascinating to look at.
